Hi! I’m Rob.

Math teacher. Swim coach. Chess player. Athlete and sports lover.

My students are smart kids who have hit an obstacle of some kind in learning math. I am passionate about helping students move around these obstacles so they can gain the confidence they need (and deserve)!

I’ve worked in high-performing schools for over 10 years and have helped guide other teachers and develop curriculum. One of my superpowers is connecting with students and finding ways to make them feel known.

I particularly enjoy connecting with my neurodiverse students. Having ADHD myself, I know it can make traditional academic environments tough. But I also know it can result in some of the most creative thinkers and doers and I love to capitalize on that in my tutoring with students.

Before diving into tutoring full-time, I swam competitively in college and have coached swimming for two decades – so I’m no stranger to discipline, motivation, and personal growth. I also minored in Performing Arts, which has helped me bring energy and creativity into every session (yes, even when we’re deep in the weeds of algebra).

Here are some other things you’ll come to know about me:

  • I love a good dad joke. Like, more than most.
  • I’m a former state champion chess player and, yes, I still play.
  • I’m a passionate fan of all things Seattle sports – Seahawks, Mariners, Sounders, Storm, Huskies – you name it. Go Hawks!
  • I’m a proud husband and dad of two kids.
  • My favorite animal is my dog, Buster Pancake. One of the greatest compliments I ever received was being told I’m just like a golden retriever.
  • I once ran a half-marathon in jean shorts.
  • I no longer run half-marathons.
